Journey the n-th dimension: past, present, and future of napari

napari is a Python library and standalone application that aims to make exploration, annotation, and analysis of multidimensional image data seamless for both Python and non-Python users alike. napari's first commit was in 2018, and was first publicly announced in late 2019. Since then, it has become a leading tool for image analysis, particularly for scientists already using the Scientific Python ecosystem. I'll briefly go over napari's design philosophy, demonstrate napari's capabilities, then explain where napari has fallen short of its goals, and what's on the roadmap for the future. napari remains a community-developed project and I'll invite attendees to join us in bringing napari's future closer!
