Systemic and Local Immune Interactions with Breast and Prostate Cancer
William HutchisonWEHI Bioinformatics
The immune system both affects and is affected by developing cancers. It follows that observations of the immune system may be used to detect cancer status. Further, the accurate characterisation of local tumour-immune interactions may enhance our understanding of cancer development, resulting in improved cancer therapies. In this talk, I will present my progress along two branches of connected work. In the first, I aim to differentiate metastatic breast cancer progression using immune markers from blood samples. In the second, I aim to characterise the prostate tumour microenvironment, focusing on the relationship between immune and epithelial cells.
