Hypergraph representations of structural features and the topology of the protein universe

Agnese Barbensi
University of Melbourne

The analysis and characterisation of complex systems is a problem of increasing importance across modern physical, engineering, life and social sciences. Topological data analysis provides a powerful computational window on such systems. I will present a framework that combines computational topology, hypergraph theory and network science to analyse spatial data across multiple scales. I will finish by looking at how we can use this mathematical framework to identify recurring structural features and differences in the 3D conformation of complex bio-molecules.
