I joined Genetics and Bioinformatics at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in September 1999. After some years as molecular biologist in the lab and some years as High School / College teacher of mathematics, biology and physics, I have recently been dedicating my time to computational biology, statistics and programming.

I have been working mainly in the Sequence Analysis of proteins and nucleic acids,in many different ways: thinking about strategies, using tools, writing programs, supporting lab-biologists, studying protein sequences and the literature; in efforts devoted to identify target genes in the genome of Plasmodium falciparum. I have been developing algorithms for efficient protein domain recognition / classification, MARCOIL is an HMM-based tool for coiled-coil domains. For some time I have been involved in some statistical analysis of microarray expression data.

As of March 2002 I move back to Switzerland, to ISREC / SIB at Epalinges (ISREC).
