Computational interrogation of melanoma evolution

Peinan Zhao
Monash University

Melanoma is the most lethal type of skin cancer, presenting significant challenges in clinical practice. In this study, we analysed multiple types of omics data generated from patients through various stages of melanoma initiation and progression. These datasets encompassed genomics (WGS, WES and TSO500 panelled sequencing), transcriptomics (bulk and single-cell RNA-seq), epigenetics (methylation array) and proteomics (reverse phase protein array). Using these datasets, key research and clinical questions were addressed, including 1) identifying putative cells of origin of melanoma; 2) evaluating genomic biomarkers to impact patient management; and 3) elucidating drivers of melanoma progression.
