Using networks to analyse heterogeneous data in disease

David Chisanga
WEHI Bioinformatics

Recent advances in high-throughput techniques pertaining to OMICs analysis has resulted in the generation of large amounts of heterogeneous data. Interaction networks such as protein-protein interactions can be utilised to interpret such complex biological datasets. In this talk ; I will discuss the development of an integrated resource to catalogue colorectal cancer related OMICs datasets and network-based techniques that can be applied to the identification of essential genes in cancer. Furthermore ; using network theory ; I will also discuss the identification of novel regulators of an organelle biogenesis (in this case exosomes).
