What is Clinical Bioinformatics ; Anyway?;High throughput sequencing is fast maturing and clinical laboratories are rapidly adopting it as both a replacement for existing tests and for new tests that have not been previously possible. This rapid change has dramatically increased the need for bioinformaticians in these organisations. What are the needs of clinical organisations and what type of bioinformatics is going on there? In this talk I will discuss the nature of clinical bioinformatics as an emerging field ; and present examples of the type of work being done. These include verification and validation work ; engineering for quality ; and research to introduce new bioinformatics tools into clinical settings.;;;
